The PX7 Training Method

80/20 describes a training mix. Zones describe intensity. Choosing the next run also takes your recent training, time and recovery. PX7 Training uses these together to recommend a session and, when useful, one alternative for the same training opportunity.

Each session has a purpose, structure and total duration including warm-up, recoveries and cooldown. Pace or power targets have execution ranges. Easy runs are guided by comfortable effort.

After a late, shortened or missed run, PX7 Training adjusts the following sessions and the recovery between them, taking your goal and race date into account.

PX7 Training checks which sessions are suitable before comparing them. A worked example fits two six-minute tempo blocks, a three-minute jog recovery and ten minutes each of warm-up and cooldown into 35 minutes. An easy alternative replaces that session; it is not extra training to catch up later. The log records which parts were shortened, with perceived effort kept alongside completed work. Missing sensor readings remain unknown. Personal response models are under evaluation; training rules remain the basis when the model is not adequately supported.

Science-based training

Research informs the rules. The complete PX7 Training method still needs testing with runners; we do not claim that it finds the optimal next workout or guarantees better results.

On your phone

PX7 Training is being built for iPhone and Android. You can follow the plan with manual logging. We are preparing connections to Apple Watch, Garmin and Stryd; supported devices and data will be confirmed before launch.
